LOMT Landscapers Program of the John W. Behnken Society

LOMT Landscapers logo

In early 2007, Lutheran Outdoors Ministry of Texas in partnership with Lutheran Foundation of Texas was awarded a grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. The purpose of the grant was to develop a planned-giving component for LOMT to encourage major gifts that will benefit the ministry for many years in the future. The LOMT Landscapers Program is an added dimension to the John W. Behnken Society that has been in existence at LOMT for many years. The goal of the Landscapers Program is to gather, with the Lord's help, an additional 50 commitments of future estate gifts for LOMT.

Texas District LWML 75th Anniversary Campaign

In 2004, the Texas District LWML Board of Directors launched the "Endowing Tomorrow Lutheran Women in Mission 75th Anniversary Campaign." The goal of the drive is to gather $1 million in planned gifts by the 75th anniversary in 2017 to support the two Texas District LWML endowments administered by the Lutheran Foundation of Texas.

The Texas District LWML Scholarship Endowment provides support for women who are preparing for full-time work at a college or university of the Synod. The Texas District LMWL Mission Inreach Endowment provides income for spiritual enrichment, member development and leadership training opportunities for LWML members.

The 75th anniversary campaign is unique in that it is not seeking cash contributions, but rather gifts through a will, estate or gift plan. To date, 117 individuals have made commitments. Pat Biar is the chairman of the campaign committee. If you would like more information about this campaign, call John Hawkins (800-880-3733) or email johnh@lfot.org.

"Building the Redeemer Legacy"

This legacy program is now in the Genesis member phase that will extend through December 2008. Members of Redeemer who want to participate in this legacy program can do so by leaving a gift to one or more of the three Redeemer endowments that are managed by LFOT by a bequest through a will or living trust, by including one or more endowments as a beneficiary of an insurance policy, CEF account, or retirement plan, or by establishing a life income gift. Chair for the Redeemer campaign is Nancy Kurio. To find out more about the Redeemer legacy campaign, call John Hawkins (800-880-3733) or email johnh@lfot.org.
