Wills, Estate and Gift Planning Seminars

Seminars

The Lutheran Foundation of Texas offers two basic programs for congregations in the Texas District. Each lasts 30-60 minutes as determined by the particular setting for the event. Typically, these are offered as part of a Sunday Bible Class, as a seminar after a worship service, or as a topic presentation to special groups that meet at the church.

1. "Christian Wills, Estate, and Gift Planning"

This program covers such topics as the four basic estate planning documents everyone should have, the advantages of having a Will, the disadvantages of dying intestate (without a Will), components of a Christian Will, basic structure of a Will, charitable tax planning, planned gifts as part of your estate, charitable trusts, gift annuities, and endowments.

2. "Growing in Christian Stewardship Through Gift Planning"

This program discusses Christian stewardship from a Biblical perspective, and outlines various ways congregation members can preserve assets/income for themselves and their families both by paying less in taxes and by making a commitment of a gift to their church or other Lutheran ministries. Charitable Remainder Trusts, Gift Annuities, IRA Trusts, and Individual and Family Endowments are discussed.

Sermon

In addition to offering Bible Classes and seminars on the subject of Christian estate and gift planning, Rev. Gary Pohl, Executive Director of LFOT, is available to present a sermon on Christian stewardship for Lutheran churches of our Texas District. This can be done separately from or in conjunction with a Bible Class or seminar.

Focused Presentations

In addition to the general presentations and Bible Classes offered above, LFOT offers more specialized programs on several topics. These presentations explore the topics of life income plans and endowments in more detail.
